Krista Puderbaugh is a Licensed Professional Counselor holding a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary. She has experience working with children and adolescents ages 3-18 years old with behavior problems and severe emotional disturbances such as:
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder
- Substance Abuse
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Krista’s Therapeutic Approach
Krista takes an eclectic approach to therapy with her clients in order to create a therapeutic approach that fits with the client’s needs. She has received training in the following approaches:
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Play Therapy
- Practice Wise, an evidenced-based treatment system for working with children and adolescents with various emotional and behavioral issues
She desires to help her client to develop increased personal insight, self-control, wisdom, and a renewed enjoyment of their life and relationships.
Krista seeks to help children and adolescents process their thoughts, feelings and actions through various interventions that fit the child or adolescent’s development and needs. She seeks to do this in a safe, nurturing, and fun environment helping them to develop into their own people.
When working with the family, she encourages parents to appreciate and understand their child in a more holistic way through evaluating their own parenting style to see what is working for their child and where changes can be made to improve their relationship with them.
Teenage Substance Abuse Treatment
She has received training in and is certified to use the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach, an evidenced based practice for adolescent substance use. She has been certified to administer the GAIN-Q3 and the SASSI-4/SASSI-A2.
Finally, Krista has a passion for working with young women in various life situations such as dealing with body image issues, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, family issues, and traumatic experiences. She desires to be a witness to their journey to growth and change.

Originally from Candia, New Hampshire, Krista moved to Jackson, Mississippi to attend Belhaven University and received her B.A. in Dance. From 2010-2012, Krista interned with RUF where she acquired an interest in pursuing counseling. She attended Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) and graduated in 2015 with an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy.
After graduating from RTS, Krista worked at Warren Yazoo Behavioral Health working with children with behavior problems and severe emotional disturbances. In May 2016, she began work at Canopy Children’s Solutions to help develop and run their new grant-funded adolescent substance abuse intensive outpatient program. Krista has interests in to pursuing further training in play therapy, expressive arts therapies, and trauma certification.
Krista is married to Daniel, and they live in Madison with their dog, Stella.
