Krista Woods is a Licensed Professional Counselor holding a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary. She enjoys working with individuals of all ages and their families as they move towards healthy emotional, mental, and relational growth. She is dedicated to coming alongside her clients as they walk through life’s many challenges. Krista takes a client-centered approach to therapy and has a deep passion to help her clients develop increased personal insight, self-control, wisdom, strength, and a renewed enjoyment in their lives and relationships.

Since 2015, Krista has worked with children 5-18 years old in multiple treatment settings such as outpatient, school-based, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential treatment centers. Now at Watershed, she uses her experience to come alongside children and adolescents (and their families) as they process their thoughts and emotions through various interventions that fit the child’s needs and development. She desires to foster an environment that is safe and nurturing to help them grow and develop.

Krista is passionate about further developing the child-parent relationship. She encourages parents to appreciate and understand their child in a more holistic way using evidenced-based interventions and neuroscience. She guides parents to evaluate their parenting style to see what they can change to help improve their relationship with their child.

Originally from Candia, New Hampshire, Krista moved to Jackson, Mississippi to attend Belhaven University and received her B.A. in Dance. From 2010-2012, Krista interned with RUF where she acquired an interest in pursuing counseling. She attended Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) and graduated in 2015 with an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy.
After graduating from RTS, Krista worked at Warren Yazoo Behavioral Health working with children with behavior problems and severe emotional disturbances. In May 2016, she began work at Canopy Children’s Solutions to help develop and run their new grant-funded adolescent substance abuse intensive outpatient program. Krista has interests in to pursuing further training in play therapy, expressive arts therapies, and trauma certification.
Krista lives in Madison with her husband and two dogs.
