Russ has over a decade of clinical experience working with individuals, couples and families addressing several different types of clinical issues. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Sexual Addiction Specialist (via the International Association of Certified Sexual Addiction Specialists). He also has extensive training and experience with adolescents and their families, as well as advanced marital therapy training from Drs. John and Julie Gottman.
Russ is a graduate of Mississippi State University, and completed his Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings since graduating from RTS, which include Community Mental Health in Vicksburg, MS, a psychiatric facility for adolescents in Jackson, MS and private practice contracting with Crossroads Counseling Center before forming Watershed Counseling with colleagues Marti Witherow and Caty Coffey.
Over his professional career, Russ has conducted seminars around adolescent issues, sexual addiction, adoption, attachment and marriage enrichment. In 2011, he and his wife traveled internationally in order for Russ to conduct two marriage enrichment seminars where he experienced the challenges and joys of teaching with a translator.

Russ seeks to live an authentic, simple and humble life in the Lord, surrendering to God’s call wherever He leads. He and his wife have three daughters and the family is currently a licensed foster care family in the state of Mississippi. Russ grew up in St. Louis, MO, and loves watching Cardinal baseball.
