Jennifer Harris is a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 20 years of experience in mental and behavioral health.

Jennifer received a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Mississippi College and a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from William Carey College. She began in the mental health field as a board-certified music therapist. After completing her internship at River Oaks Psychiatric Hospital in New Orleans, she worked for several years at the Mississippi State Hospital as a music therapist and was the clinical training director for the music therapy internship program. Returning to graduate school at Mississippi College, she completed internships with community mental health centers and then began her post-graduate career working in a variety of settings including community-based mental health programs, psychiatric inpatient and long-term care facilities, a medical pediatric psychology program, a college counseling center, trauma and eating disorder programs, and crisis management programs. In addition, she has approximately 12 years of experience in administration in executive director and clinical/program director roles within intensive mental health programs, including those that specialize in the treatment of trauma, mood disorders, and eating disorders.

Jennifer has served on the adjunct faculty for Holmes Community College and has presented lectures at various professional conferences and workshops throughout the Southeast. Professional interests include the study and treatment of trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, dissociative experiences, attachment injuries, and counselor education and supervision. While grounded in cognitive behavioral therapies, she enjoys utilizing the expressive arts and experiential therapies, psychodrama, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems theory within her practice. She is EMDR trained (Levels I and II), has completed advanced group therapy training with Gerald Corey, PhD, LPC, a trauma intensive with Colin Ross, MD, and has studied advanced EMDR protocols with Ana Gomez, LCSW. Jennifer is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, Mississippi Counseling Association, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing International Association, and International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals.

A native of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Jennifer and her husband live in the Brandon area, and are active in their church. Jennifer enjoys live music and the arts, a variety of sports and outdoor activities, cooking, and traveling. She especially enjoys weekend trips to Starkville with her husband (MSU Alum), “raising their daughter right” in the Mississippi State Bulldog family.
